Manganese Steel

Manganese steel, commonly known as mangalloy, is an alloy steel that has an average of 13% manganese. Once it has been work-hardened, mangalloy is renowned for having a high impact strength and resistance to abrasion. Mangalloy steel has exceptional anti-wear qualities and is a unique non-magnetic steel.

The material is incredibly abrasion-resistant and may increase its surface hardness by up to three times in impact situations without becoming more brittle, which is typically linked to hardness. The majority of steels have 0.15–0.8% manganese. Manganese content in high strength alloys is typically 1.8% to 1.8%. The steel starts to exhibit brittleness at 1.5% manganese content, and this characteristic gets worse until a manganese content of 4–5% is attained.
